Well if you put it back blank you could start over, and if you left the data you could keep it as a back up of your current data. Both should be fine for different purposes. I also have the 40 gb model and My HDD comes out the same way yours does. I tried to upgrade mine once but, it didnt work because I didnt know that you were suppose to put the latest firmware on a flash drive in order for it to work. I just assumed it would automatically format the HDD like it does in the videos I've seen on Youtube. One quick Question, did you have to format the External drive? if so, what software did you use and is it Windows 7 compatible? thank you so much for this vid.
