Well if you put it back blank you could start over, and if you left the data you could keep it as a back up of your current data. Both should be fine for different purposes. You shouldn&#039;t really need to do either though.</description>

		<description>thank you so much for this vid. I also have the 40 gb model and My HDD comes out the same way yours does. I tried to upgrade mine once but, it didnt work because I didnt know that you were suppose to put the latest firmware on a flash drive in order for it to work. I just assumed it would automatically format the HDD like it does in the videos I&#039;ve seen on Youtube.  One quick Question, did you have to format the External drive? if so, what software did you use and is it Windows 7 compatible?</description>
